Portugal has recently been beset by a series of intense storms (including Storm Kristin) that have caused billions of dollars in damage and left many people without homes/transportation. We’ve tried to give to causes that will help in the relief effort.
The storms have also had an additional side effect: They have blown a shit ton of trash onto the beach near where we live.
The other day, we saw locals cleaning up the beach and asked if we could join them the next day. In the above vlog, @joyofnapping and I attempt to contribute to the clean up effort.
One of the things that’s been a challenge moving to another country is connecting with locals. Unless you have a local job (not likely in most scenarios) or make an effort to participate in social settings, it’s hard to have the opportunity to even just chat with folks. We were grateful to be able to make some meaningful connections on the beach.
